Funeral Ads During Concert for Diana
An Australian television station has drawn fire over the poor placement of two advertisements during its screening of the Concert For Diana from Wembley on Monday night.
Viewers complained after two commercials for an undertaker and road safety campaign followed a performance in which rap artist P Diddy had dedicated his appearance to the late Princess of Wales.
Diddy’s set ended with an ad break that opened with a promotion for White Lady Funerals, with the slogan “a woman’s understanding from very special women”.
Excessive speed and not wearing seatbelts are major contributors to road trauma. So there was a timely reminder of the consequences of speeding and then reinforced with the message that, ladies if you do, there is a dedicated funeral service for women.
Perhaps a public service message about drunk driving would have been more advisable though.
