It hasn’t been widely reported as of yet but Elton John was stopped by traffic police when trying to re-enter Wembley Stadium after his performance at the Princess Diana (the “Concert for Diana”).

Elton launched a tirade at traffic police after they told him to get out of his chauffeur-driven car and walk the short distance to the VIP backstage area as part of tough security measures following the terrorism scares.

“Get out of my @#$!ing way,” he reportedly said. “Don’t you know who I am? I’ve been working all @#$!ing day and I need to get to my @#$!ing dressing room.”

According to police, Elton’s car was pulled over because his car was driving down a road that was limited to pedestrians.

Sir Elton’s spokesman was having none of it.

“He had been there for 10 hours, performed a brilliant set, and it’s a shame that people are concentrating on one petty moment,” the spokesman said. “You can’t expect Elton to start walking towards Wembley as 60,000 people are leaving. That’s a security risk in itself.”

Even though Princess Diana died almost ten years ago now, it seems to me that a princess made it to the show after all.
